WVARSE, recognizing the need to
train future teachers with a dedication to
learning and academic achievement, promotes a
STUDENT TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP program, open to
students in West Virginia colleges who have
successfully completed their preparation for
student teaching and have been recommended by
their colleges for formal student teaching in an
elementary or secondary public school.
Applications for the
scholarships may be downloaded from this site
for distribution to students who show promise as
future teachers.
The following rules must be
observed.
1. Applicant must be a resident
of West Virginia, a graduate of a West Virginia
Public High
School and attending a West Virginia College or
University.
2. All requirements listed on
the checklist must be submitted in the
applicant’s handwriting.
Any typed items submitted (Except letters of
recommendations) will result in automatic
disqualification.
3. Application must be dated.
Post mark date will determine validity of the
application.
4. No application will be
reviewed without the Endorsement by Teacher
Education
Director being completed.
A select committee of WVARSE
members will review the applications and make a
recommendation to the Executive Board.
Scholarship recipients will be chosen with
attention to academic standing, financial need
and recommendations from the college director of
student teaching.
