Student Teacher Scholarships

WVARSE, recognizing the need to train future teachers with a dedication to learning and academic achievement, promotes a STUDENT TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP program, open to students in West Virginia colleges who have successfully completed their preparation for student teaching and have been recommended by their colleges for formal student teaching in an elementary or secondary public school.

Applications for the scholarships may be downloaded from this site for distribution to students who show promise as future teachers.

The following rules must be observed.

1. Applicant must be a resident of West Virginia, a graduate of a West Virginia Public High
School and attending a West Virginia College or University.

2. All requirements listed on the checklist must be submitted in the applicant’s handwriting.
Any typed items submitted (Except letters of recommendations) will result in automatic
disqualification.

3. Application must be dated. Post mark date will determine validity of the application.

4. No application will be reviewed without the Endorsement by Teacher Education
Director
being completed.

A select committee of WVARSE members will review the applications and make a recommendation to the Executive Board. Scholarship recipients will be chosen with attention to academic standing, financial need and recommendations from the college director of student teaching.
